Mr. & Mrs. Phillip
As millennials who randomly met on Tinder we never thought that we would end up here; black in love, sharing our nuptials on our (every 4 years) anniversary with 75 of our closest family & friends in Marrakech, Morocco!
Keegan being a traditionalist and I being the epitome of non-traditional…our views on marriage and the perfect wedding were night and day. Believe it or not Keegan wanted the wedding and I felt it’s a waste of money and I would rather just get married and invest. But we quickly learned in pre-marital counseling that a successful marriage takes compromise and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! So I compromised and agreed to have a wedding as long as I could plan it…and oh did I plan it!
As a couple we (Tori) decided that American weddings lack culture, originality and significance. If you turn the page in any bridal magazine or scroll down your timeline, it’s the same old (traditional setting, white dress, ugly bridesmaid dresses, “we’re only here because we love you” pomp and circumstance). We were so against following the “traditions” and wanted to create something that felt like us; an experience in itself.
So we started by first looking up different articles and sites on how to plan a wedding…and from that we (Tori) crossed out everything she didn’t like; which was 90% of the list.
Every aspect of our wedding was created with intention. The Colors were a combination of masculine and feminine energy. The richness of emerald, wine and midnight blue next to nude, white and golds in the Marrakech Palmeraie created a visual balance…coupled with pearls, pampas grass, moroccan rugs, lanterns and cotton created an unorthodox usage of texture and a feeling of oneness.
Aesthetics and the stimulation of all senses were the foundation to how I came up with the perfect way to celebrate our union.
The #the20ninth is the day Keegan asked me to be his Girlfriend, and also the day we became one. #The20ninth is an experience that’s meant to be felt…for generations to come.
