The Scent of Something Special: My Journey to a Cleaner Fragrance

Beauty

Finding a fragrance that smells divine and has high-quality, low-toxicity ingredients is easier than it used to be, but let’s be honest—it’s still a bit of a hunt. But hey, that’s part of the thrill, right?

I am such a fragrance girl—the kind who has perfume counters quaking when they see me coming. I have a soft spot for niche fragrance brands because of their uniqueness and the stories they tell with every note. So, when I was in Atlanta recently, my friend took me to this gorgeous niche fragrance boutique that had hundreds of perfumes from indie brands, plus the option to make your own custom scent or body oil. Talk about a dream come true!

Two hours (yes, two hours) later, after sniffing and debating over countless bottles, I found a new love: Essentials Parfums Paris. The brand checked all my boxes: over 85% natural ingredients, woman-owned, philanthropic, and seriously high quality. Swoon! I walked out with two scents that had me on cloud nine: Divine Vanille and Rose Magnetic.

Having a high-quality scent that not only smells luxurious but is also less harmful felt like the ultimate win. Here’s the thing about traditional perfumes: they often contain harmful chemicals known as endocrine disruptors. These chemicals can interfere with hormone balance, leading to health issues over time. So, making the switch to a cleaner fragrance isn’t just about smelling good—it’s about treating your body better.

Pro Tip: Want to reduce chemical exposure? Spray your clothing instead of your skin. That way, you still smell incredible without letting the fragrance sink directly into your pores.

And as I walked out of that boutique, arms full of dreamy scents and heart full of joy, I couldn’t help but feel a little bit like a Parisian flâneur—wandering the streets, intoxicated by beauty, savoring each breath as if it were poetry. Until next time, may your days be filled with scents that spark joy and tell your story.
